Canadian Open: Andrey Rublev is in the final
09:46 12 August, 2024Andrey Rublev, the men’s eighth ranked tennis player in the world, has reached the final of the Canadian Open being held in Montreal.
In the semifinals, the Russian tennis player defeated the world's 46th ranked Matteo Arnaldi (Italy) in two sets: 6:4, 6:2. The match lasted 1 hour and 18 minutes.
In the final, Rublev’s opponent will be world No. 62 Alexei Popyrin (Australia), who earlier had defeated world No. 18 Sebastian Korda (USA) in their semifinal clash, which lasted 1 hour and 31 minutes.
The prize fund of the Canadian Open is $6.8 million.
Jannik Sinner (Italy) had won the title last year. But the world No. one lost to Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals this year.
