Paris 2024: US wins 3 gold medals in athletics, again overtakes China in medal count

The representatives of the USA won three gold medals in athletics Thursday at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Tara Davis-Woodhall won the Women's Long Jump title, with 7.10 meters. In second place was Malaika Mihambo (Germany), with 6.98 meters. And Jasmine Moore (USA) won the bronze medal, with 6.96 meters.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA) won the Women's 400m Hurdles—and with a world record (50.37 seconds). In second place was Anna Cockrell (USA), with 51.87. And Femke Bol (Netherlands) became the bronze medalist, with: 52.15.

The first two places in the Men's 110m Hurdles went to Americans Grant Holloway (12.99) and Daniel Roberts (13.09). And Rasheed Broadbell (Jamaica) finished third, with (13.09).

The USA again topped the medal count at the Paris Games, with 30 gold, 38 silver, and 35 bronze medals.

China, which is in second place, has 28 gold, 25 silver, and 19 bronze medals.

Armenia is 61st, with 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
