Euro 2024: Turkey are in quarterfinals
00:54 3 July, 2024Turkey have reached the quarterfinals of UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany.
In the last match of the Round of 16 played in Leipzig, the Turks defeated Austria with a score of 2-1.
Al-Ahli defender Merih Demiral scored for Turkey already in the 57th second. His goal was the fastest ever in the playoffs of European Championship. In the 59th minute, Demiral also netted Turkey’s second. And in the 66th minute, Austria reduced the score difference thanks to the goal of Freiburg forward Michael Gregoritsch.
Turkey’s opponents in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 will be the Netherlands, who defeated Romania 3-0 in the Round of 16.
