Artur Aleksanyan secures seventh European championship in wrestling

Artur Aleksanyan won his seventh European championship in Bucharest, Romania. He beat Magomed Murtazaliev from Russia with a score of 6:3 in the final match.

Aleksanyan started from the 1/8 finals, defeating Turkish wrestler Beytuly Kaysdagin 9:1, then Dutch wrestler Tyrone Sterkenburg 8:3 in the quarterfinals, and Belarusian Abubakar Khaslakhanau 5:1 in the semi-finals. Aleksanyan has won European titles in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023.

The 32 years old wrestler has also won gold at Rio 2016, silver at Tokyo 2020, and bronze at London 2012 in the Olympics.

He's won world championships in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2022, and a European Games championship.

Malkhas Amoyan, a three-time European champion, won Armenia's first gold medal on February 13, defeating Yusuf Emre Bashar from Turkey 7:0.

Manvel Khachatryan won a bronze medal in the up to 55 kg weight category.
