A world marathon record holder and his coach die in a car accident

24-year-old Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum, the world record holder in the men's marathon race, and his coach were victims of a car accident in Kenya, BBC reported.

Kelvin Kiptum clocked 2 hours and 35 seconds at the Chicago Marathon last October, surpassing Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge's world record.

Kelvin Kiptum was expected to be part of Kenya's team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
