Paris Masters: Alcaraz out in his opening match

World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz suffered a startling defeat in the Round of 32 at the Paris Masters.

In his opening match, the Spanish tennis star faced world No. 45 Roman Safiullin (Russia), who won in two sets: 6:3, 6:4. The match lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes.

Alcaraz lost in his opening match for the first time in the current Masters’ season.

Safiullin's opponent in the Round of 16 will be the world No. 15, Muscovite Armenian Karen Khachanov (Russia).

The prize fund of the Paris Masters is €5.7 million.
