Many turn down a fight when learning that David Graf will be their opponent, Zhirayr Graf, the manager and brother of David Graf (Vahagn Sahakyan)—the 23-year-old Armenian heavyweight boxer who represents the Sauerland team of Germany—told NEWS.am Sport.
As NEWS.am Sport informed earlier, David Graf achieved his ninth professional win in a fight against Blanchard Kalambay of France, which took place in Germany on November 3. Graf defeated his opponent on points.
“David’s previous opponent [that is, Kalambay] was a strong guy. He cut David’s eyebrow with one head-but. David’s punches did not injure him because Kalambay’s head was used to such punches,” Zhirayr Graf said.
In response to the queries as to when people will see David Graf in Armenia, when he will fight in the country, and when he will represent Armenia, Zhirayr Graf stated:
“That is a contract-based matter linked with the Sauerland Club. When Armenia will be able to organize bouts, evenings, and sports events like the ones in Germany, then we can organize David’s fight in Armenia.
[But] It is not planned in the future. We have another fight soon. I can only say there are even cases when numerous boxers turn down a fight when learning that their opponent will be David Graf.
With respect to fighting under Armenia’s flag, that likewise is contract-based. Both of us very much want for David to fight under Armenia’s flag, but he still is a member of the Sauerland team and has a contract with the German club.”
To note, this was David Graf’s ninth professional fight. He is undefeated so far, and six of his wins have come by way of KOs. Graf’s fights stand out by their quick end, and one of his bouts was the world’s fastest-ending, with a third-second KO.[08:56:30] david gevorgyan,: ok
