Novak Djokovic, the 22-time winner of the Grand Slam and the current world No. 1 in men’s tennis, will not be able to compete in the 2023 Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open this month.

The Serbian tennis star was not granted a US visa, reports ESPN. He had asked the US government a coronavirus vaccine waiver request, making him eligible to compete in the aforesaid tournaments because the ban on the entry of unvaccinated persons to the US will be lifted on May 11.

US Senator Rick Scott said in a tweet that he petitioned to US President Joe Biden with a request to intervene on this matter and make an exception for Djokovic, enabling him to compete in the 2023 Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open.
