11:37 27 January, 2023Hrant Melkumyan, the world Chess Olympiad silver medalist as part of the Armenian men’s national team, was on hand at the Australian Open semifinal tennis match in Melbourne between Karen Khachanov (Russia) vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece).
The Armenian chess grandmaster rooted for Muscovite Armenian Khachanov—and with an Armenian tricolor national flag.
As reported earlier, however, Karen Khachanov lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has reached the Australian Open final for the first time.
And Khachanov had reached the semifinals of this tennis tournament for the first time.
