Carlsen recognized as world champion in rapid chess for the fourth time

The World Rapid Chess Championship held in Almaty ended with the victory of world leader Magnus Carlsen.

The Norwegian Grandmaster won 10 points out of 13 possible and became the world champion for the fourth time in rapid chess. Second and third place went to Germany's Vincent Keymer and American Fabiano Caruana with 9.5 points each.

Armenia's Manuel Petrosyan won 24th place with 8 points. Zaven Andriasian with the same number of points is 40th.

Haik M. Martirosyan ranks 41st with 7.5 points. Gabriel Sargissian is 45th with the same number of points. Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (62nd place), Shant Sargsyan (66th) and Mamikon Gharibyan (71st) gained 7 points each. Tigran L. Petrosian is 89th with 6.5 points.

The World Blitz Championship starts on December 29.
