World Weightlifting Championships: Armenia's Samvel Gasparyan becomes bronze medalist

Armenia won its first medal at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships.

European champion Samvel Gasparyan from Armenian men's national team competed on the eighth day of this competition in the capital of Colombia, Bogota.

The weightlifter from Gyumri became the bronze medalist in the 102 kg competition, by lifting a combined weight of 389 kg.

Gasparyan lifted 175 kg in the Snatch and also won a bronze medal in this exercise.

In the Clean and Jerk exercise, the 25-year-old weightlifter lifted 214 kg.

This is Samvel Gasparyan's first medal at the World Weightlifting Championships and Armenia's only medal so far in this championship.

Fares Elbakh (Qatar) became the world champion in the 102kg category (391kg, 174kg+217kg).
