In the last quarterfinal match of the World Cup faced world champion France and European vice-champion England.

The French won 2-1 and advanced to the semifinals.

Aurélien Tchouameni, a 22-year-old midfielder for Real Madrid (video) and Olivier Giroud, a 36-year-old forward for AC Milan (video) scored for France.
