Thousands of fans meet Japanese national team (PHOTOS)

Thousands of fans greeted the Japanese national team at home. The Japanese reached the 1/8 finals of the World Cup in Qatar and lost to world vice-champion Croatia in a penalty shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation and extra time.

In the group stage, Japan had sensational victories over Germany (2-1) and Spain (2-1). The Japanese lost to Costa Rica, 0-1.
