Goncalo Ramos becomes youngest footballer to score hat-trick in World Cups since 1962

Having scored three goals against Switzerland in the last match of the Round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Portuguese forward Goncalo Ramos has become the youngest player to score a hat-trick in World Cups ever since the 1962 World Cup.

Ramos, who was among Portugal’s starters for the first time, achieved the aforesaid accomplishment at the age of 21 years and 169 days.

The record holder is Hungarian Florian Albert, who had netted three goals against Bulgaria in the group stage at the 1962 World Cup—and at the age of 20 years and 261 days, reports Opta.

Portugal beat Switzerland 6-1 in Qatar and advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals for a third time in history.
