In the 1/8 finals of the World Cup vice-champion Croatia defeated Japan 3-1 in a penalty shootout to advance to the quarterfinals. The main and extra time of the match ended with the score 1-1.
The Croats responded to a goal by 25-year-old Celtic forward Daizen Maeda (video) with a precise shot by 33-year-old London Tottenham forward Ivan Perisic (video).
Croatia will play the winner of the Brazil-Morocco match in the quarterfinals. The game will start at 23:00 Yerevan time.
