Germany break World Cup 'record'

Germany are winless after their first two matches for the first time in a FIFA World Cup, reports Opta.

They lost 1-2 to Japan in their opening match of the group stage at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and drew 1-1 with Spain in the second round.

In group E, Germany are currently the last, with just 1 point. The leaders are Spain, with 4 points. Japan and Costa Rica have 3 points each.

In the third—and last—round of the group stage on Thursday, Germany will face Costa Rica.
