Maria Sharapova advances to WTA Championships semifinals

Russia’s Maria Sharapova advanced to the semifinals of the WTA Championships in Istanbul defeating Agnieszka Radwanska 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.

Sharapov’a next opponent is Samantha Stosur from Australia. If Sharapova wins she will avoid a clash with  Serena Williams.

“I’m happy to get to that stage - the goal is always to get out of your group,” WTA quotes Sharapova. “I was injured last year and didn't play very well, so to be in the semifinals this year makes me very proud, and especially given the way I fought tonight.”
