In the first round match of the group stage of the World Cup, Spain defeated Costa Rica 7-0.
The Spanish team was scored twice by 22-year-old Barcelona forward Ferran Torres (video), (video), with 24-year-old RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo (video), 26-year-old Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio (video), 18-year-old Barcelona midfielder Gavi (video), 25-year-old PSG midfielder Carlos Soler and Atletico forward Alvaro Morata scoring once each.
Olmo's goal was the 100th for Spain at the World Cups.
Spain topped the Group E standings with 3 points. In the other match of the group the Japanese national team defeated the German team 2-1 and gained 3 points.
Spain will play Germany in the second round on November 27.
