US Open: Nadal advances to 2nd round

In the first round, the Spanish tennis star defeated world No. 198 ranked Rinky Hijikata (Australia), in four sets—4:6, 6:2, 6:3, 6:3.
Nadal's opponent in the second round will be world No. 60 ranked Fabio Fognini (Italy).
Last year's winner of the women's competition, world No. 11 ranked Emma Raducanu (UK), faced world No. 40 ranked Alize Cornet (France) in the first round, but lost in two sets—3:6, 3:6.
The US Open will end on September 11.
