World number one Iga Schwentek could not reach the quarterfinals of the WTA-1000 tournament in Toronto. 

The Polish tennis player was defeated by Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil 4-6, 6-3, 5-7. The match lasted three hours and one minute.

The prize fund of the tournament in Toronto is $ 2.5 million.
