The arrival hall of Zvartnots International Airport of Yerevan was crowded again last night.

At 3:59am local time, new European weightlifting champions Rafayel Harutyunyan, Davit Hovhannisyan, as well as the other medalists and members of the Armenian national weightlifting team returned home.

The most, however, impressive was the arrival of Hripsime Khurshudyan. She had made her return to sports at the European Weightlifting Championships in Albania after a six-year hiatus.

The Armenian national weightlifting team won 7 medals (2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) in combined total at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships that were held from May 28 to June 5 in Tirana, Albania.

At the European Championship, Armenia took the 3rd place in the doubles medal fight, losing to Bulgaria (8 medals) and Ukraine (7 medals).

As a result, Armenia placed third place in the overall medal standings, behind Bulgaria (8 medals) and Ukraine (7 medals).
