Roland-Garros: Rafael Nadal wins first round

Rafael Nadal, a 21-time Grand Slam winner, started off with a victory at the French Open tennis tournament.

The 35-year-old defeated Jordan Thompson of Australia 6։2, 6։2, 6։2. The match lasted two hours and four minutes.

Nadal's opponent for next season will be French Corentin Moutet.

Nadal celebrated his 299th Grand Slam win, equaling the 18-time Grand Slam winner Chris Evert of the United States.
