One Armenian fencer to qualify for London Olympic Games

YEREVAN. – Armenian Youth Championship was over at the Fencing School in Yerevan. Robert Khachatryan (épée), Emil Danielyan (rapier), Armen Karapetyan (sabre) won medals out of 125 participants from the capital Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor. Among women the winners were Emma Poghosova (épée) and Arpine Atoyan (rapier).

Honored coach of Armenia Alik Navasardyan, however, was dissatisfied with the performance of the athletes from Gyumri and Vanadzor, he told Armenian News-NEWS.am

The next tournament of Armenian fencers is scheduled for Feb. 29 in Hungary where Junior European Championship will launch. Armenia will present Robert Khachatryan.

International tournament is scheduled for Mar. 30 to Apr. 8 in Moscow. Robert Khachatryan, Karen Arazyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan are among the Armenian participants.

The most important tournament is scheduled for Apr. 21 in Bratislava, Slovakia. It will be European qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games. Each state will have one representative and only those reaching the final will be qualified for the London Olympic Games. Mikael Ghazaryan (épée) will present Armenia in Bratislava.
