Atletico first team in history to reach quarterfinals of Champions League without home win

Spanish champion Atletico Madrid became the first team in history to reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League without winning at home, Opta reported.

In the group stage, the team led by Diego Simeone drew 0-0 at home against Portugal's Porto, lost 2-3 to England's Liverpool and 0-1 to Italy's AC Milan.

In the first match of the 1/8 finals, Atletico finished the first match against Manchester United in the Spanish capital 1-1.

In the return match, Atletico won 1-0 at Old Trafford in Manchester, securing a trip to the quarterfinals.
