Defenders Ben Mee (Burnley), forwards Ché Adams (Southampton), Ryan Fraser (Newcastle), Harry Kane (Tottenham) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) were also nominated for the award.
Eddie Howe was named Coach of the Month (Newcastle, 3 wins in 4 games).
Mikel Arteta (Arsenal, 3 wins in 3 games), Ralph Hasenhüttl (Southampton, 3 wins in 4 games) and Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool, 4 wins, 4 games) were also nominated for the award.
