International Ice Hockey Federation to exclude Russia and Belarus

18:29   28 February, 2022

The International Ice Hockey Federation will exclude Russia and Belarus from its membership, depriving them of the right to play in international competitions, Iltalehti reports. The reason was Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

Earlier, Finland excluded Russia and Belarus from participating in the 2022 World Cup, to be held in May in Helsinki (Tampere).

Russia will also lose the right to host the World Youth Championship in Novosibirsk and Omsk, as well as the World Cup in St. Petersburg in 2023.
