Karen Khachanov started off with a victory at the ATP-500 series tournament in Rotterdam. Khachanov beat Alexei Popyrin of Australia 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) to advance to the second round. The game lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes.

His opponent in the next round will be Cameron Norrie of Great Britain.

The prize fund of the Rotterdam tournament is €1.2 million.
