Beijing 2022: Mikayel Mikayelyan will start Olympics on February 6

The Armenian Olympians start at the 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

On February 6, skier Mikayel Mikayelyan will start from the 6 representatives of the Armenian Olympic team.

The skiathlon tournament will start at 11:00 Yerevan time. Mikayel Mikayelyan will compete in 15 km classic style + 15 km freestyle.

Mikael Mikaelyan was born in 1999 in Ashotsk to a family of skiers. His personal trainers are the father and mother, Arthur and Alla Mikayelyan. He has been skiing since he was a child. He is a multiple champion of Armenia, winner and prize-winner of international tournaments, took the 8th place in the 2021 Under-23 World Championship with 71 participants from 30 countries with the result of 36: 17.10. This is the best result in Armenia in skiing.

Beijing 2022 is Mikayel Mikayelyan's second Olympic Games. He also participated in Pyeongchang 2018, where he took the 72nd place among 80 athletes in the ski sprint (classic style), and the 83rd place in the 15 km classic style.

Skiathlon is one of the most spectacular skiing competitions. Athletes start in two rounds with a group start, first the strongest, then the highest in terms of ranking points. After the first 15 km of classic style, the athletes change their skis and continue with the 15 km freestyle.
