2022 Winter Olympics: Tina Garabedian and Mikayel Mikayelyan to be Armenia flag bearers

The flag bearers of the Armenian delegation at the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympics in Beijing will be figure skater Tina Garabedian and skier Mikayel Mikayelyan, the National Olympic Committee of Armenia reports.

The opening ceremony of the Beijing Games will take place Friday and kick off at 4pm Armenia time.

More than 4,000 representatives from 95 countries will take part in the 2022 Winter Olympics is in Beijing.

A total of 109 sets of medals will be up for grabs in 15 competitions in 7 sports.

The opening ceremony of the Games will take place at the Beijing National Stadium, where the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympics was held, too.

Beijing has become the only city in the world to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

Armenia will have six competitors: Tina Garabedian and Simon Proulx Senecal figure skating ice dance pair; cross-country skiers Mikayel Mikayelyan, Katya Galstyan, and Angelina Muradyan; and alpine skier Harutyun Harutyunyan, who, however, has contracted the coronavirus and has not yet left for the Chinese capital.

The 24th Winter Olympics will conclude on February 20.
