FIDE World Rapid Championship: First day of competition over

The first day of the competition ended Sunday, as five rounds were played at the FIDE World Rapid Championship in Warsaw, Poland.

Tigran L. Petrosian showed the best result—with 4 wins and 1 defeat—from the representatives of Armenia, and he currently shares the 4th to 16th places in the current tournament standings.

The current first place is shared by Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland), Baadur Jobava (Georgia), and reigning World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway), who have 4.5 points each.

Five more rounds will be played Monday.
