FIDE: Aronian who received US sports citizenship is ranked 6th

The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has issued its latest monthly world ranking of chess players.

Accordingly, former leader of the Armenian national team Levon Aronian, who has received US sports citizenship, has dropped two spots and is now ranked sixth in the world.

Armenia’s representatives Gabriel Sargissian (54th) and Hrant Melkumyan (99th) are among the top 100, and American Armenian Samuel Sevian (USA) is ranked 49th.

Reigning World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) still tops the FIDE rankings.
