FIFA President suggests holding football championship in Israel and Palestine
12:15 14 October, 2021FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced the possibility of holding the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Israel and Palestine, jointly in several neighboring countries.
“Why can’t we dream of the FIFA World Cup in Israel and neighboring countries? Taking into consideration the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, why can’t we hold the championship in Israel and the neighboring Middle Eastern countries, including Palestine?” Infantino said during a meeting with Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennet.
In 2022, the FIFA World Cup will be held in an Arab country (Qatar) for the first time ever. In 2026, the US, Canada and Mexico will jointly host the world championship.
