Azerbaijan's representative, world and European weightlifting champion banned for 8 years
21:02 29 September, 2021Azerbaijan’s representative, world weightlifting champion and four-time European champion Boyanka Kostova, 28, has been banned for 8 years for violation of anti-doping rules, starting from May 10, 2021 as reported on the website of the International Weightlifting Federation.
During the European championship held in Moscow in April of this year, the Bulgarian weightlifter tested positive for doping after metabolite stanozolol was detected in her blood.
Kostova scored the champion title after lifting 211 kg in the 59 kg category in Moscow, surpassing Olga Tyoy by 1 kg.
Kostova represented Bulgaria until 2011.
