Legendary English footballer, world champion Roger Hunt dies

Legendary English forward, former forward for the England team and Liverpool Roger Hunt has died at the age of 83, Liverpool’s press service reports.

“We are mourning the passing of legendary former player Roger Hunt. The thoughts of everybody at Liverpool Football Club are with Roger’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time. Rest in peace, Sir Roger Hunt 1938 – 2021,” Liverpool tweeted.

Hunt won the Second Division in 1961 before triumphing in the First Division in 1963/64 and 1965/66. Hunt was also an FA Cup winner in 1965 and scooped three Charity Shields.

Hunt made 34 appearances at international level for England, scoring 18 goals including three during the Three Lions' victory at the 1966 World Cup.
