Champions Showdown: Levon Aronian defeats Hikaru Nakamura

Levon Aronian, who has moved to the United States, is among the participants of the Champions Showdown Chess 9LX (Chess-960, Fisher chess), which has kicked off in St. Louis.

In the first three rounds, the Armenian chess grandmaster defeated Hikaru Nakamura, was defeated by Peter Svidler, tied the match with Fabiano Caruana and shares the 5th-7th places with 1.5 points. The sole leader is Fabiano Caruana with 2.5 points.

In the remaining six rounds, Aronian will compete with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, world’s 13th champion Garry Kasparov, Wesley So, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sam Shankland and Leinier Dominguez.
