Armenia to have 54 athletes at First CIS Games

First Games of the Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIS) countries will take place in Kazan, Russia, from September 4 to 11.

About 1,500 athletes from Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will compete for 184 sets of medals in 16 sports.

But the age of the competing athletes shall not exceed 23, informed the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia.

Armenia will be represented by 54 athletes in this event.

The decision to hold the CIS Games in Kazan was made in October 2019, it was originally scheduled to be held in August 2020, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
