13:07   23 July, 2021

The Olympic torch arrived in the Japanese capital ahead of the opening ceremony of the 32nd Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics will take place Friday and will start at 3pm Armenia time.

Armenia’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony will be swimmer Varsenik Manucharyan and boxer Hovhannes Bachkov.

This event will be held without spectators—and due to the coronavirus-related restrictions.

Only officials and journalists will be present in the stands.

Armenia will have 17 athletes competing in eight sports.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics had been postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
