Copa Libertadores: Boca Juniors footballers provoke mass clash after game

A massive clash took place in the tunnel leading to the locker rooms after the second leg of the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 match between Atletico Mineiro (Brazil) and Boca Juniors (Argentina).

The Boca players were dissatisfied with the refereeing, and they tried to break into the opponent's locker room.

A mass clash ensued between the footballers and representatives of the two clubs.

The police had to use tear gas to calm the situation.

An Atletico Mineiro player suffered a broken nose in the melee, and eight Boca Juniors representatives of were detained.

Their Copa Libertadores return leg in Brazil had ended in a goalless draw after regular and extra time, and the hosts had eliminated their guests on penalties.
