First case of COVID-19 recorded at Tokyo Olympic village

The first case of the coronavirus was recorded at the Olympic village of Tokyo, Japan, NHK reported.

Seven days before the start of the Summer Olympics, a member of one of the foreign national teams tested positive for COVID-19.

This person, however, is not an athlete.

The Japanese side does not report which country this individual is from.

There is a state of emergency in Tokyo from July 12 to August 22—and due to the increase in the spread of coronavirus.

The 32nd Summer Olympics in the Japanese capital will be held from July 23 to August 8—but without spectators.
