Benfica president arrested for alleged fraud

President of Benfica Luis Filipe Vieira has been arrested for alleged fraud, money-laundering and tax evasion, ESPN reported.

The suspicions are fraud to the Resolution Fund and abuse of trust by Luís Filipe Vieira against Benfica itself, because of the sale of 25% of the club’s capital, and qualified fraud by credits granted by Novo Banco to Vieira’s business group.
