Mancini: I am sure that we will reach Euro 2020 semifinals
00:07 11 June, 2021The manager of the Italian national team, Roberto Mancini, is confident that his squad will reach at least the semifinals of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2020).
Italy will play the opening match of this tournament with Turkey on Friday in Rome.
"I am absolutely sure that we will reach London [i.e., the semifinal games and the final]. Three years ago, I headed the Italian national team with the most optimistic mood. We still have the most combative mood.
We must respect the Turkish national team, which include many talented football players. Opening matches are always difficult," Mancini said, the UEFA press service reported.
Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, and Wales are in Group A in the group stage of Euro 2020 which was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will be held from Friday to July 11 this year.
