FTX Crypto Cup: Armenia’s Aronian defeats World Champion Carlsen

Levon Aronian (Armenia) beat World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) in the 10th round of the FTX Crypto Cup online rapid chess tournament, which is the third round of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour.

Now, the Armenian chess grandmaster shares the 11th and 12th places with Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia), with 4.5 points each.

The chess players who take the first eight places in the preliminary round of this tournament will advance to the quarterfinals.

The prize fund of the FTX Crypto Cup is 320 thousand US dollars. The winner will secure a spot to the final round of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour scheduled for September.
