Judoist Ferdinand Karapetian wins 7th place in Kazan

Armenia’s leading judoist, Europe’s champion Ferdinand Karapetyan (73 kg) participated in the Grand Slam judo championship in Kazan.

After scoring three victories, the Armenian judoist made it to the quarter-final during which he was defeated by Russian Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov, who reached the final. Karapetian had the chance to compete for the bronze medal, but lost to Belarusian Vadim Shoka during the consolation battle. He won 7th place.

Ferdinand Karapetian is the only judoist in Armenia who still has chances to score a pass to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
