Schalke 04 to bid farewell to Bundesliga after 33 years

Having lost 1-0 to Arminia in the 30th round of the German Bundesliga, Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 have lost their chance to retain their place in the Bundesliga.

Schalke 04 are last, with 13 points, in the current Bundesliga standings, and are 13 points behind the sixteenth-place team four games before the end of the current season.

Schalke will be leaving the Bundesliga for the first time in 33 years. The last time this happened was in the 1987/88 season.

Since 2007, Gazprom company is the main sponsor of Schalke 04.
