Spezia Calcio’s delegation visited Pope Francis after beating Roma 4-2 in the 1/8 final of the play-offs for the Italian football cup.

The club presented a shirt to the Pope, who, in his turn, congratulated Spezia Calcio on making it to the quarter final of the Italian football cup.

“I congratulate you. In Argentina we dance tango, and tango is a 2/4 beat music. You won 4-2, and that’s good. Thank you for the visit. Sport is a wonder that reveals the best in us. Continue with the same spirit,” Pope Francis said.

Roma lost in the additional time. At the 73rd minute, midfielder for the Armenia national football team and Roma Henrikh Mkhitaryan tied the match 2-2, but was replaced at the 85th minute.
