Russia’s representative Margarita Gasparyan has been granted the opportunity to participate in the Australian Open Women’s Singles, the Russian Tennis Federation’s press service reported.

The Armenian tennis player will participate in the Australian Open as a ‘lucky-loser’.

Gasparyan was defeated in the final after scoring 2 victories in the qualifying round.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Australian Open women’s qualifying round was held in Dubai this year, and the men’s qualifying round— in Doha.

This year, the Australian Open will kick off earlier than scheduled (February 8).
