In an interview with La Repubblica, senior member of the Armenia national football team, midfielder for Roma Henrikh Mkhitaryan talked about the war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan.

“The war in Artsakh has been going on for 30 yaers, but many countries prefer to ignore this conflict. The fact that this is taking place in the 21st century is incredible. It’s a pain to see that there are Armenian captives in Azerbaijan who were taken from their families. During the war, I made a call to the whole world. It was important for our voice to be heard. I thank the government of Italy for its support. I also thank all those who have recognized the independence of Artsakh.

The humanitarian aid that Roma sent to Armenia was a wonderful initiative. The football club saw the grief of people and decided to help. I will never forget what Roma did,” Henrikh Mkhitaryan said.
