Garry Kasparov announces death of his mother

Klara Kasparova, the mother of 13th World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov (Russia), has passed away; the famous chess player announced this on social media.

“With great sorrow I share the news of the passing of my mother, Klara Shagenovna Kasparova. My role model, my greatest champion, my wise counsel, and the strongest person I will ever know. I love you, Mama,” Kasparov, 57, wrote on Twitter.

The Chess Federation of Russia extended its condolences to Garry Kasparov.
