Jan Vertonghen signs deal with Tottenham Hotspur

Ex-member of Tottenham Hotspur Jan Vertonghen will transfer to Lisbon’s Benfica and has signed a three-year contract.

In July, the 33-year-old footballer left Tottenham Hotspur and joined Benfica as a free agent. Italy’s Roma were also negotiating with Vertongen, offering a two-year contract and a EUR 3,000,000 annual salary.

Vertonghen, who moved from Amsterdam’s AJAX to Tottenham Hotspur for EUR 12,500,000 in 2012, participated in 315 matches with Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 27 goals and making 12 passes for goals.
