New York Times: The Champions League final will not take place in Istanbul

19:16   29 May, 2020

The final of the Football Champions League will not take place in Istanbul, the New York Times reported.

The reason is the severe epidemiological situation in Turkey amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new decision will be made in June. The most likely option is the capital of Portugal, Lisbon.

Istanbul will retain the right to host the Champions League final in the coming years.

UEFA is also discussing the semi-finals of the Champions League in Germany with one match and the option of holding the final.
